The week is finally here! We are excited to start our Convergences Conference 2021 tomorrow (28 April 2021) at 11am with opening remarks by our co-chair Kate Bauer and our Keynote Address, Dr. Funké Aladejebi at 11:15am! If you haven’t registered yet, please visit our registration at EventBrite.
Planning this conference during a pandemic has been a new experience for all of us. We, the co-chairs, have worked hard over the past few months to organize this inaugural conference between our universities. We are excited about our keynotes as well as all of our graduate panellists from not only York University and the University of Toronto but also from universities around the globe.
Remember that in lieu of conference fees this year, we urge you to donate what you can to Second Harvest. Check out CYUT’s donation page here! Every little bit helps.
We look forward to an engaging and stimulating three days and can’t wait to hear the questions from our attendees. We would like to thank Dr. Andrea Davis and LA&PS for the Anti-Black Racism Fund, our graduate history student associations, and our respective departments.
Personally, I would like to thank my fellow co-chairs for their hard work and dedication.
We are all living through the current crisis of COVID-19, and this conference offers all of us a chance to learn about, explore, and reflect on crises across time and space.
This conference will be virtual and hosted via Zoom. The same meeting ID and password will work for each session, so please feel free to enter at any time. Between sessions, we will also have breakout rooms available for socializing with our panellists and attendees.
A reminder to our presenters to arrive 15 minutes before your panel is set to start. The full schedule is available here. Please note that all times listed are in Eastern Standard Time. There will be a breakout lobby for testing out the technology if the previous panel is still in session.
