Although it is no longer Valentine’s Day, love is still in the air! The submission deadline for Convergences closed on February 8, 2021, and the CYUT team is pleased to announce that our CFP has received a lot of love and attention. We currently have 57 submissions from PhD and MA students as well as Undergraduate and post-PhD submissions.

We have gotten proposals from: York University, the University of Toronto, Université de Montréal, McMaster University, the University at Buffalo, the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Nipissing University, Scuola Normale Superiore, the University of Texas, the University of Sistan and Baluchestan, Concordia University, Simmons University, the University of California, Laurentian University, the University of Victoria, the European University Institute, the University of Plymouth, Carleton University, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Syracuse University, South Dakota State University, SOAS University of London/ Philipps University of Marburg, Kadir Has University, the University of Western Ontario, and Yale University.

However, what the CYUT team has been loving most of all is the content of these submissions! The applications have covered topics ranging from Israeli occupation to right-wing populism and American Liberal democracy. Within the overarching themes of ‘crisis’, the Convergences submissions look at food, decolonization, Black and Indigenous resistance, memory, trauma, the Holocaust, climate change, immigration, pandemics and COVID-19, perceptions of childhood, LGBTQ2+ identity and community formation, women and gender, fascism, and even sex robots!

We look forward to reading and reviewing all our submissions and will announce the successful applications by March 15, 2021.

Even though the submission deadline has closed, you can still participate in the Conference. Register on EventBrite to get the Conference’s links once they become available (Confronting Crisis: Writing History in Uncertain Times Tickets, Wed, 28 Apr 2021 at 10:00 AM | Eventbrite).
